This entire list is from walking hotel to hotel, bar to bar, and asking industry workers “what do you always get asked by tourists?” + their answers.

HOW TO USE THE TROLLEY?
The Pink Line goes to Ala Moana Center, it’s $2 and you pay on the bus. The others you must buy for $20 at Duty-Free Store (DFS).

WHERE TO WATCH FRIDAY FIREWORKS?
Hilton Hawaiian Village (Where they’re launched)
Fort Derussy Beach Park (Up close, lots of people)
Magic Island (Fireworks + city lights, less people)
Barefoot Beach Cafe (Beachside food, live music, distant fireworks)
Helicopter (Only if you’re a boss.)

*You cannot see the fireworks from Waikiki Beach east of the Sheraton (they’re blocked by buildings.)

WHERE IS THE BEST PIZZA?
Giovanni Pastrami & Harbor Pub.

WHERE TO GET GOOD POKE?
Coco Cove, Ono Seafood Takeaway & Foodland.

WHERE TO GET GOOD SUSHI
SANSEI & DURAKU (Sansei 1/2 OFF after 10pm)

HOW’S THE UDON PLACE WITH THE LINE?
Marukame is great and the line moves fast. Try the curry + fried chicken.

BEST WAY TO NORTH SHORE SHRIMP TRUCKS?
Drive or tour. Bus is too long.

WHAT ARE THE GOOD SPORTS BARS?
Rivals, Lulu’s, Giovanni Pastrami, Wood & BucketBuffalo Wild Wings, Legends.

HOW MUCH TO TIP…
VALET
$5 for pulling up a car & $5-10 to take luggage to the room (depending on quantity).

BARTENDERS
For a round of 2-3 drinks, leave $3-5 per round.

If sitting down or dinner & drinks, leave 12-18% of the check and 20% if outstanding.

WHERE’S DUKES?
Central Waikiki Beach. Go there!

WHERE’S A GOOD TIKI BAR?
Cuckoo Coconuts & Arnold’s Beach Bar in Waikiki, & La Mariana (oldest) by airport.

WHERE’S THE OLD INTERNATIONAL MARKET KIOSKS?
Duke’s Lane.

WHERE’S THAT "PINK HOTEL?"
It’s the Royal Hawaiian and it’s central Waikiki Beach.

WHERE’S THE SHERATON WAIKIKI?
On Waikiki Beach. Have an evening drink or party later at Sheraton’s RumFire.

DO HOTELS HAVE BEACH TOWELS?
Most do, just ask.

WHERE TO GET COUPONS?
International Marketplace customer service, sidewalk flyer boxes, & Waikele Outlets Information Booth.

HOW TO GET TO ALA MOANA CENTER?
10-15 min walk (from West Waikiki), 25 min bus, or a short taxi/Uber.
