Aloha @RollinBill!

Duke’s Lagoon (West Waikiki Beach) is a nice calm lagoon with SUP and water bike rentals.

East Waikiki Beach has walls in the ocean blocking large waves.

Also Kaimana Beach in Waikiki (Kapiolani Park side). In general, it’s less people and clean/clear water, dogs friendly and lifeguard on duty too.

Aloha, during our summer months May thru October some of Hawaii’s best beaches are on Oahu’s North Shore  check out kevosbeachbus.com Its a perfect full day tour that families truly enjoy! Stops at beautiful famous beaches like Pipeline & Waimea bay (2hrs) 1hr snorkeling with turtles with gear included at Puaena point, also perfect lunch stop just outside Haleiwa town," Tsues farm" where you can choose from several local style lunch choices and hop on our 1hr paddle boards or Kayaks on Haleiwa’s smooth & calm Anahulu stream by our historic Rainbow bridge, end the day with delicious dole whip pineapple icecream:) at Dole plantation 730am-430pm
We now offer a special promo code “matesrate” to save you 25% off both our Standard or Gold packages. Dont spend the day in a bus being driven around the island when you could get out and play! Cheers, Kevo

So if we’re now talking about kid friendly beaches not in Waikiki, then you’d have to throw in Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach (25 min drive) and Hanauma Bay (25-30 minute drive).

Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach are absolutely beautiful and have almost no waves. Sometimes it gets quite windy, however, so bring something to cover with. FYI- Kailua Beach has a life guard but Lanikai Beach does not.

If you’re headed to Kailua from Waikiki and have a car, you can stop by Safeway on Kapahulu Avenue or Whole Foods in Kailua for beach food. You can also find nice sit-downs in Kailua as well.

Hanauma Bay is great for snorkelling and also has life guard. Right before you get there on your left you’ll find Hawaii Kai which has fun places to stop and eat, including a Leonard’s Bakery truck.

Have fun!
